Christmas Love

​It's that time of year 
We are blessed to be here to enjoy it
Lights in the windows brighten the mood
Making a room feel so cozy
Toasty fires of sorts warm the soul
Trees decorated with love
Holly adorns candles and decorations
Cedar branches draped on the mantle
Natural potpourri - cranberry, orange, rosemary sprigs
And cinnamon sticks simmer on the stove
Filling the air with nature's blessings
Food flowing with calories that don't count
Laughter heard with people near and far
Hugs for those most cherished
In person, on paper and virtual messages
To those who matter
Sharing and caring - a season for giving
Being Santa to those less fortunate
Picking out items with care and love
All leading up to the day
A day of turkey coma and naps
Turkey and all the trimmings to nourish 
Cranberry sauce on top of the goodness
Homemade chocolates to sweeten the evening
Who am I kidding? Dessert is the best meal of the day!
Warm apple pie with melting vanilla ice cream
And mostly the reason for the season
Gratitude to Jesus on His birthday
Without Him where would we be?
The Star of David led the way
A stable with animals - a room in His heart
The birth of the future saving our souls
Everyday is a blessing leading to Him
A day to do better than the previous
To love one another as He would do
Let's share that love all through the year.
