"I love springtime when the birds return to chirp our good morning wishes, the flowers start to bloom, the trees bud, the bees quietly take stock, the wind warms our heart and the water beckons to come in for a splash." :) Maria Lisa Polegatto

"Sometimes in life you come upon places that leave you breathless and people that make you feel speechless, in a good way, that is when time stands still so you can cherish those special moments of the connection that nurture your soul." Maria Lisa Polegatto
"I've loved many cats over the years. From my many black and white cats all named "Charlie", to "Squeakers", a grey tabby whose meow was more of a squeak, to "Misty", my bluer than blue Russian Blue, all of who now rest in peace, to visiting with my current furry love, "Harley" from Two Rivers Wildlife Park, who taught me how to be calm in the face of fear to overcome all adversity. While she's sweet, and waits for me to come along the path to pop up from hiding to surprise me in our favorite spot, and rolls over to show me her belly, she's also a wild cougar who doesn't trust many, whose tender love has touched my heart." Maria Lisa Polegatto [Harley is a rescued wild cougar who can't survive in the wild. She and her best friend, Caledon, are pampered and loved at Two Rivers Wildlife Park.] "Now I know spring has finally sprung - Whiskey not only did her morning walk, she also did her evening walk and added another round all in one outing with no signs of fatigue. Those legs were moving in rhythm only stopping for sniffs of grass and telephone poles along the way. Impressive. More hugs today for my furry love to celebrate." Maria Lisa Polegatto
"Today Whiskey and I were saddened to learn of another cancer patient we know. As Whiskey as my "miracle" by my side, we can tell you cancer can be beaten. It takes a lot of work but it can be done. Look around at the miracles of life, listen to the whispers in the wind, and believe with your whole heart. When you stumble and fall, pick yourself back up, brush yourself off and know deep within your heart you can do it. We will help you when you're ready all the way through it. That was the promise I made for Whiskey's healing - sharing is learning. All you need do is be open to the healing." Maria Lisa Polegatto
"Earth Day - a day to be humble and grateful the earth has allowed our presence to continue amongst the spirit and magic that surrounds us each day." Maria Lisa Polegatto
"When I was young (which sometimes seems like yesterday :)), I wanted to be a Marine Biologist. I still love whales and seals and the oceans. While I've often dreamt about that, I realize that I can still love the oceans and all within it while doing other things I love. We can use so many nutrients in the oceans to heal ourselves. I guess that's why the oceans still call out to me. The oceans have taught me much in cancer research and still continue to do so." Maria Lisa Polegatto
"I'm loving The Truth About Cancer series for things I have done with my dog. While the series talks people, I relate it to dogs, with modification and research, of course, to make sure it is dog friendly :) The proof that it works is in her wagging tail and wet nose on my cheek in the morning :) Maria Lisa Polegatto
"Dogs don't like to be around conflict. They take the negative energy personally so its best to keep them away from negativity. I recently found a benefit though of dogs in relation to diffusing the possibility of conflict in meetings. The mere mention of the many hugs I get from my furry therapy dog melts away any possible conflict in the room to the point people wished I had brought her to the meeting." Maria Lisa Polegatto
"Dogs are so multi-talented and vastly more employable than people. Who else can switch from working in healthcare, including long term care, chronic and terminal illness, injuries and disabilities, to law Courts, to military, to prisons, to funeral homes, to schools, to libraries, to comforting the homeless, seniors and veterans, to many workplace settings all in a day with ease? And so much more generous with their time and they work for free. That's the thing about doing what you love to do, money is not the motivator, passion is." Maria Lisa Polegatto
"Integrity can be a virtue that is lost when people wish to encourage a conflict based dialogue, but it doesn't have to be. A little kindness can go a long way in obtaining the same results in a much more beneficial way to both the sender and receiver in the process of communication." Maria Lisa Polegatto
"While I have done many different natural modalities with my dog to heal her from cancer, I have also seen the benefits of conventional medicine used by her Vet. To heal you must bring the body back into harmony with itself. While her heart beat better with homeopathy, it beat even better with help from her Vet and continues to do so. I believe when both natural and conventional medicine work together, more cures will be had for cancer. It's a win-win solution when people work together, cancer included. It takes many different avenues to turn cancer off. I don't believe there is just one cure based on what I have done. It's ok to be just a part of the cure :)" Maria Lisa Polegatto
"Arthritis is inflammation in the body that creates pain and creakiness :( Sometimes foods can also trigger arthritis pain. Do you know what your food triggers are to cut back on? You only have pain to lose. Your body will thank you by waking up with bounce in the morning." :) Maria Lisa Polegatto
"Celery - part of nature's organic healing plan to heal your stomach which in turn heals your body. It's full of divine health that no man can reproduce. It's full of water, yes, but water in it's purest form is also a great healer. While the juice is healing, juicing is vital when feeding to dogs as celery sinews can cause digestive distress. Not only is celery's healing properties beneficial when dealing with cancer but also diabetes and the inflammation caused by arthritis." Maria Lisa Polegatto
"Soft and gentle, sweet and full of innocence, where words alone could never express the emotion of a single cherished kiss." Maria Lisa Polegatto
"Thinking about my two Labrador dogs, Doris and Dryfuss, who had parvo when they were puppies over 20 years ago. Dryfuss grew strong because he ate like there was no tomorrow, while Doris grew into the daintiest dog I ever knew. Both their healing complete with bacon bits sprinkled on their food to encourage them to eat and healing hugs." Maria Lisa Polegatto
"Not only have I found turmeric beneficial in dealing with canine cancer, but it also helps ease the pain associated with the inflammation of arthritis." Maria Lisa Polegatto
"Conflict is not about fighting. It is about sharing, listening and understanding. Take every opportunity to learn from it." :) Maria Lisa Polegatto
"There's nothing like making my Mom's barbeque spare ribs first thing this morning after dreaming about them last night. They smelled so good baking and tasted just like I remembered she made them. Thanks Mom :) " Maria Lisa Polegatto
"The answers lay awake in your dreams. All you need do is ask." :) Maria Lisa Polegatto
"Feeling so blessed today after horse hugs and kisses with Bud and Maggie and snuggles from Missy the barn cat. Thanks for sharing energy to calm my spirit and nurture my soul." Maria Lisa Polegatto
#canine #cancer "Recovery continues; one month from surgery gone by so quickly. Dog walks get longer as the sun warms our path, much sniffing is occurring as the winter thaw opens way, appetite continues to be strong, she's alert and friendly, tail wagging while grinning eagerly awaiting hugs, sleeps are restful and undisturbed, weight gain increases to 74.1 lbs. - truly golden :). It's amazing that time heals so quickly but we'll never forget the journey that brought us here today. Each day a blessing with hugs and snuggles to start and end the day." Maria Lisa Polegatto
"Many thanks to the Directors of Care for the Long Term Care facilities in Cape Breton for the invitation to present our group's research project, The "Pawsitive" Effects Of Therapy Dogs on Residents In Long Term Care. I enjoyed seeing their faces light up as we went through the presentation slides and look forward to seeing more therapy dogs in the future in this and many other populations". Maria Lisa Polegatto
