Meet Maria Lisa Polegatto:
Hi, I'm Maria Lisa Polegatto. Welcome to my site :)
I grew up in the Community of Marion Bridge, Nova Scotia, Canada, along the beautiful Mira River with my parents, three brothers and many pets and cousins over the years. You may have heard the famous folk song written by Allister MacGillivray about this beautiful river called "Song for the Mira".
My heritage is French Acadian, Italian and Irish descent. My grandparents bought a large tract of land in Mira when they got married and as their children grew and got married, they built homes and lived on the property too so I had many cousins that I grew up with :). We were the "Little Italy" of Mira :) I spent a great deal of my days on the Mira River - in summer in, at, under, on and near the water, and in the winter on the frozen water. We had enough children in our Little Italy to have baseball games, hockey games and always a friend to go outside and play with. One of my favorite past times was padding up the Mira River after supper and floating back down the River chatting with other boaters on the water.
I moved to Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada, with my family, including our beautiful Whiskey Polegatto, aka SugarPlum, Darlin', Hon, a mix of Golden Retriever/Labrador/Husky. Whiskey is the inspiration for this blog as you will see her pictures below. Unfortunately Whiskey past on to the Rainbow Bridge in August of 2016. Whiskey had a pure golden heart that gave us much love. She loved to go for walks and cuddle. I miss her dearly. We now have Tilly Maisy Whiskey Polegatto, a mix of German Shepherd/Labrador/American Eskimo/Samoyed Husky/Golden Retriever/Cocker Spaniel/Small Poodle, who is full of fun and love who comes back to the Mira and the oceans with me often. I love animals and love how they freely offer their healing and kindness to all who are open to them. You will see many pictures of the animals of my heart throughout this blog.
I work as a Paralegal, have completed many volunteer experiences over the years, continue my education, write articles and poetry which have been published by The Edge Magazine and the Shelter Animal Reiki Association (SARA) and also an honorable mention with Utmost Christian Writers. On my healing journey, I have become a Reiki Master Teacher, Energy Healer, do Canine & Equine Massage, Masterson Method Beyond Massage, Coaching (Life, Business, Spiritual, Assertiveness), Author, Poet, and use my Healing Drum. I also work with the lovely animals at Two River Wildlife Park and Petting barns. Tilly and I also do citizen science for many species in nature and the oceans.
I love to be creative, spend time near the water, do various activities, retreat into nature and spend time with animals enjoying the magic that surrounds us. In spending so much time with animals and nature, it is natural for me to join the doTERRA Wellness team and advocate the many benefits of doTERRA's essential oils which is a part of nature and can be used by the whole family.
My education has lead me to my Bachelor of Arts Community Studies Degree at Cape Breton University (CBU) in 2019. I am also continuing my studies as learning is a valuable hobby for me.
I hope you enjoy my site as much as I enjoy writing and sharing :)
Hugs and blessings to you :) May the peace and Light in this world be with you always :)
Maria Lisa :)
