Meet Maria Lisa Polegatto
Hello and welcome! I'm Maria Lisa Polegatto, and I'm delighted you are here!
I grew up in the beautiful community of Marion Bridge, Nova Scotia, along the scenic Mira River, surrounded by my parents and siblings, numerous pets and a large extended family. There is a famous folk song written by Allister MacGillivray about this community, "Song for the Mira".
My heritage is a blend of French Acadian, Italian and Irish decent, and I was fortunate to grow up in a vibrant family community, I affectingly called "Little Italy" of Mira. Many of my childhood days were spent outdoors, swimming, boating, skating, and enjoying every season on, in and/or along the river. These early experiences instilled a deep sense of family, community and nature. One of my favorite summer activities was paddling and conversing with other boaters.
I now live in Sydney, Nova Scotia, with my beloved pets and wildlife. I have a beautiful son, Ryan, and previously we lived with his dog, Whiskey, a Golden Retriever/Husky/Labrador mix whose love and warmth continue to inspire me. Animals have always held a special place in my heart, offering unconditional love, healing and joy, and you'll see that presence throughout this site.
Professional I am a Paralegal. I also write, and am a life long learner. My work has been published in The Edge Magazine. Alongside writing, my healing journey has led me to become a Reiki Master Teacher, Energy Healer, canine and equine Massage of the Masterson Method. I also offer coaching in the area of life and business.
I am passionate about creativity, nature and animals. I spend time near water, explore the outdoors, create art, and advocate for wellness. I participate in citizen science, support wildlife and nature conservation. Academically, I hold a Paralegal diploma, Bachelor of Arts in Community Studies, and am currently enrolled in the Masters of Education - Sustainability, Creativity, and Innovation program at Cape Breton University and continue pursuing education as a lifelong passion.
This website is a reflection of my journey, my passions, and my desire to share inspiration, creativity, and sustainability with others. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoy creating and sharing it with others.
