Do you spend a lot of money buying dog treats and they don't even like them? I've always fed my dogs some good old fashioned food and they love it. Lately I've been making my own treats for my fur babies. Here's a recipe for you- I call them doggie meatballs but you can eat them too!
Doggie Meatballs
Ingredients:
1 lb Hamburger meat - you choose - lean has less fat
1/4 teaspoon Ginger - I use Litehouse brand - freeze dried (for their stomach)
1/4 teaspoon Basil- I use Litehouse brand - freeze dried (zest of life)
1/4 teaspoon Parsley- I use Litehouse brand - freeze dried (for their lungs)
1/4 Cup Rolled Oats (better than bread) (you could also use crackers or bread crusts)
Optional:
1 egg - beaten by hand
Combine all ingredients in a bowl and mix them up. If the mixture is too dry, add an egg. If too wet, add more rolled oats.
Roll into 1.5" balls and put them on a microwaveable plate or dish. Cook in the microwave for 10-12 minutes - depends on size of meatballs of course. Makes about 20, again depending on size of meatballs. Put them in the refrigerator when done cooking.
Let them cool before giving some to your dogs - they will be sitting or laying at your feet anyway waiting for their treat/s - don't disappoint them! :)
Instead of giving them store bought, I give them a doggie meatballs when I'm heading out the door or mixed in with their food or because they are so darn cute!
Enjoy,
Lisa
p.s. I am not affiliated with Litehouse brand - I use it because I don't like fillers in my food. If you want to find them near you - check out their website: https://www.litehousefoods.com/product-category/herbs/
