While they do eat fish, they are also a necessary part of ecology to ensure the nutrients in the ocean waters are stirred up and distributed to other marine life to encourage growth of more fish.Whales are engineers of the ocean because of the many roles they play in keeping our oceans sustainable. Seals also have important roles in the oceans to help keep fish stocks healthy. All marine life are necessary to keep the oceans healthy.
It's very rewarding emotionally and physically to hike at the ocean and do a marine watch, reporting findings to your local Marine Mammal Response Society where you can report any findings for stranded, injured, dead or unusual activity of marine animals. In Nova Scotia, report to MARS - not the planet, the Marine Animal Response Society.
