Maps can lead to all sorts of people, places and things, but the ones that leave out vital information can lead people away from national treasures.

Walking along the ocean shore today made me feel like I was walking along a wall. It was a wall of ice, that is the kind of wall Canadian's prefer, walls that we can climb and that melt so people can communicate and learn from others, walls that show who we are and how we live as we shape our great nation.  Maria Lisa Polegatto

Welcome  Sunday morning! Tilly was up bright and early with the first beams of sunshine and checking to see if I was too!  "Yes, Tilly", I'm awake now" :) After she received her morning belly rubs, she was content to lay on top of me to clean her paw. Life is precious with my furry protector :) Love you Tilly!

Everyone was enjoying the mild temperatures and sunshine at Two Rivers Wildlife Park today for Family Day.  Rose and Maggie were busy pulling the wagon while other people enjoyed skating on the fish ponds. Even the the back trails were showing signs of Spring. It was the perfect place for my car to break down!

I dared to DREAM, I dared to REACH up and outward and ASK...... now I WAIT, that is both the hardest and the most IMPORTANT part of dreaming.....waiting, while you still BELIEVE in the dream, KNOWING it can come true, CONNECTING with your inner self and keeping POSITIVE about the outcome, because all great dreams take COURAGE to overcome OBSTACLES to reach FRUITION.  Maria Lisa Polegatto

Black Feathers

Hiking at the ocean is always interesting and ever changing. One never knows what the same landscape will bring on the next visit. This is a black feather I found which is always a forewarning of upcoming sadness. It was standing up as if waving in the wind for attention. After finding that, and rounding to the other side of the hike, I noticed Tilly was sniffing the snow rather intently. I almost ignored the area and kept going but she insisted. As I got closer and investigated, it was a deer that had come to its demise either washed up on the shore from the ocean or become a victim on land and now buried under the snow softly falling. Disturbing to uncover and more disturbing to ponder what and how. I am always thankful that Tilly is on guard and together we marked the area with a cross and prayer and made the appropriate call so this gentle soul could be moved from this public area to rest in peace in the arms of the Angels who can carry it to God for ever lasting peace. Amen.

Ice Clampers

3/2/2018

When my Mom was young, she used to jump ice clampers in the ocean for fun with her friends.....wow, that was dangerous by today's standards for sure!....one day she fell and as she was going under the cold ocean waters of Cape Breton, she felt something underneath her foot lift her up and out of the water....she never forgot that....and I'm glad she lived to tell me about this....it was a cold walk home to dry her clothes out before her Mom found out! While these ice clampers are on the shore, they always remind me of my Mom and her ice-capades having fun in Nova Scotia growing up as a teenager.

Tilly's Adventure

It's how cold outside today???? MINUS 24 with the wind chill. Yes, it's that cold!! This morning Tilly and I thought we should stay home instead of taking the risk of going into nature today but the call of the wilderness was calling out to us and so off we went. Yes, it was cold, brrrrrr, but we were dressed for it. At the lake it was tooooo cold to take my hands out to take pictures so we traveled on the ocean side instead and Tilly spotted movement in the distance and off she was running to make new friends. After lots of sniffing and romping, she bid farewell to her furry friends :)

Walking into the Park trails at Two Rivers, I was trying to adjust my hat and face mask to stop my glasses from steaming up and I heard a noise. I looked up and there was Bruce standing there to say "Hi" with Avery in the back marking their points on the trees. These guys are massive. So love nature and seeing animals enjoy their surroundings :)

Post Blizzard

While the blizzard warning is over, the tides at the ocean today are still going strong, crashing and thrashing upon the rocks and shore. While the spray of the waves made rainbows in the air, the power of the ocean can not be denied, leaving behind frozen seaweed and seashells filled with frozen water and rock strewn across its shores.
