I came into the house after checking on the garden and started hearing a buzzing noise. I thought it was someone cutting grass outside but it was too close for that. I finally realized it was coming from my collar area! I rushed outside to free the bee back into it's natural environment.
How do you know you are connected to nature?

by Maria Lisa Polegatto In this age, we need to look for common ground instead of adversity to move forward with compassion, collaboration and humanity. We must seek to agree on issues we can agree on first. Then we can move forward to deal with the issues of adversity to then move to resolve conflict and disagreements by looking deeper into issues to see the commonality and bring that forward to continue to move forward again and again. It is not a world of win and lose anymore. It needs to be a world we can all survive. Not survive for our mere selves but rather for a collective survival of humanity. We have too much adversity on us now in terms of climate crisis, environment, war, poverty, employment, nature and species extinctions for beginning examples. We need to move to a place of collaboration, innovation, invention and helping one another. We need to start with our home, our family, our community. Getting back to the basics of survival is going to be a must this year. While some in the world are grabbing at resources for themselves and pulling back on helping other countries, we must look to home and start there. We can overcome adversity with careful observation learning, and understanding of issues. We need to partner with collaborative partners. We must not get drawn into the drama and concentrate only on that which leads to hatred. Such an awful word but a far worse emotion that draws negative actions, adversity and war. We can succeed by working with those that wish to work collaboratively and for the benefit of all parties instead. Life is too short for adversity. Let us find commonalities and work with those that love as we do. We can define both common ground and adversity in many different ways. Here is a brief list below to consider on this path ahead of us. Common Ground verses Adversity positive negative love hate share take compassion cruelty innovation stagnation collaboration resistance agree disagree forward backward partnership disconnection strong weak home foreign community alienation similarities differences learning ignorance beneficial detrimental functioning dysfunction helping control graceful demeaning peace war survival annihilation humanity the end Reading the two lists above, can you feel the difference in meaning of common ground and adversity? Which do you choose? I chose common ground. ![]() Some of the things I found so interesting when doing my family tree was the changes of names in ascendants and the different countries and cultures my family is connected to. I think if everyone globally could do their family tree, they would see how closely we are connected to other people of same or different cultures and countries and how we could really be talking to a relative at any time. Would that make you feel more comfortable and want to have less conflict in the world? #Genealogy #family #conflict #solutions #GlobalPrayerForHumanity #humanity The most powerful prayers are the ones in which you put forth with true compassion, love and belief.
Having education is a blessing. Don't use that education to boost your ego, use it to boost someone else.

![]() Humans should first learn how their impact is hurting themselves by destroying marine life that is keeping us alive in keeping our oceans healthy. Only then can they have a greater understanding of how humans survive in the first place - through healthy oceans that keep us healthy by the very living species being destroyed. Maria Lisa Polegatto ![]() Marine mammals are a vital part of sustainable oceans. While they do eat fish, they are also a necessary part of ecology to ensure the nutrients in the ocean waters are stirred up and distributed to other marine life to encourage growth of more fish.Whales are engineers of the ocean because of the many roles they play in keeping our oceans sustainable. Seals also have important roles in the oceans to help keep fish stocks healthy. All marine life are necessary to keep the oceans healthy. It's very rewarding emotionally and physically to hike at the ocean and do a marine watch, reporting findings to your local Marine Mammal Response Society where you can report any findings for stranded, injured, dead or unusual activity of marine animals. In Nova Scotia, report to MARS - not the planet, the Marine Animal Response Society. Right Whales and marine mammals show us the right way to care for the oceans to keep oceans sustainable. Help keep them healthy so they can help keep us healthy. We need to work in unity with marine life, not in competition with it. Visit my YouTube channel to watch marine mammal videos. Warning, some have graphic content of seal remains found :( Divided we accomplish for our own good, united we accomplish for the good of humanity. Nature shows us how we can peer through the cracks to pull ourselves back to the reality of needing to live in a place of serenity, grace and acceptance of that we can not change, while also giving us the mindset to find another way to accomplish for the greater good of all. Come together and enjoy that which brings us all peace and unification. Maria Lisa Polegatto
![]() Climate is changing and we are having to adapt to it everywhere in the world. In my home town, there is more wind, more rain causing flooding, more fluctuations of temperatures from day to day. I hear people saying, there is nothing I can do, I can't make a difference, but, yes, you can, we all can, collectively or even one at a time. Imagine the number of people in the world, if we took the time to pick up one piece of pollution anywhere you see it, one piece, one person, one day at a time, how powerful is that? It's exciting to think about it and more exciting for it to happen! We can make a difference but we have to get outside and do it, one piece, one person, one day....at a time, it all adds up! Maria Lisa Polegatto ![]() The bird I saw at the ocean is actually a Great Egret, rare to find in Nova Scotia. Tilly and I were out hiking the ocean for Marine Animal Response Society which lead us to this guy, beautiful, but a little off course for Canada! Another sign of climate changing the environment. Remember, stay safe in nature and keep nature safe. Maria Lisa Polegatto ![]() Happy Mother's Day to all the Mothers in the world, including the Mothers in the animal kingdom. This morning I awoke thinking about Mabel, my Wild Sable Island friend that lived at Two Rivers Wildlife Park until she passed at the age of over 30 years old. She also had me thinking about the Wild Sable Island Horses giving birth in the silent grace and beauty of nature at Sable Island, Nova Scotia, being blessed to become Mothers to their precious foals. I so loved Mabel with her wild but kind and kindred spirit. She gave me hope there are kind souls untethered by injustice in this world. Maria Lisa Polegatto When I see this view, I know I am in for a memorable day, away from the stresses of the world. While it offers many delights of nature, it is also a reminder of the power of the ocean and how we need to keep our ocean environment sustainable for marine life and ultimately our own. Reindeer are not just for Christmas season.....they live with us all year round. You can hear a reindeer walking as their hooves go clickity-clackity just like in the Christmas carol but they don't need to be "up on the rooftop" for it to happen. Did you know that when their antlers are furry, it means their antlers are growing? The antlers fall off each year over winter and grow back again in spring. When the furry felt falls off it is nutritious for other animals. And their antlers are full of nutrients too. Thank a reindeer today for helping keep nature's circle of life alive and well where they survive the perils of nature to benefit the ecosystem. Maria Lisa Polegatto
Every trip to the ocean shows a different face to nature. This weekend I found this rather bone like item that had washed up along the shore in low tide. I sent it into MARS - Marine Animal Response Society of Nova Scotia, and it appears it may be a Basking Shark bone. It is quite interesting indeed at 20" long along the outer curve. I am always amazed at how and what the ocean brings to land upon the shoreline. While this is interesting, it is also a bit sad to see as it once was part of a living mammal.
In anticipation of Earth Day, April 22nd, I hiked at the ocean to enjoy the delights nature holds in store, from the sea foam along the shoreline, to finding a favorite purple rock, to seeing the water is still flowing at the gut and seeing that other people are collecting trash at the ocean too! Thank you!
Do you see the image in the white of the rock? A man's face looking back at you! Whoever said rocks and nature is not alive, is wrong! Nature is what, or should I say, who, sustains us :) May your Easter be filled with an awakening to divine beauty that dances all around us everyday, everywhere, at all times, patiently waiting for us to take notice and provide us with the delight it so freely offers us.
