Social Entrepreneurial Organization: James McConnell Memorial Library

I have always been aware of library services from a young child with my mother introducing me to the world of books for personal reading, school projects, reading materials for professional means and general knowledge. A library is an example of a social entrepreneurial organization helping with the social issues of a community, such as health and welfare, economic development, technology, education, environment, and agriculture, in spite of these issues moving forward to adapt, emerge, and evolve in the process (Wesley et al, 2007).

Sustainable Happiness and Entrepreneurship; Social Entrepreneurship

Entrepreneurs can seize opportunities to make real and positive changes in the world through innovation of new ideas. This can sometimes come from a frustration inside oneself with the status quo not just for their own benefit but rather for the benefit of the disadvantaged masses and can be a for profit or non-profit basis (O’Brien, 2016). While this can occur as a result of an opportunity, it can also occur as a result of the necessity for change especially in underprivileged parts of the world and can take a great many skills, such as networking, initiative, decisions, engaging, creating, innovating, emotional, social, logical and everyday skills (O’Brien, 2016). Entrepreneurial Spirit, Mindset and Moonshots For Innovation

In this changing world we need to have courage to take risks for changes to occur (Alexandros, 2017). We need to shoot for the moon by: 1) identifying a huge issue to resolve; 2) finding a revolutionary approach to solve the issue; and 3) use technology for the solution to work (Capaldi, 2017)

Design Thinking: The Process for Future Success

Design thinking is an avenue to innovate change through empathy, collaboration (IDEO U, 2018) and optimism (Argawal, 2013) to solve human centered (IDEO LLC., 2012) issues or problems though interviews and observations (DavidLeeEdTech, 2018a) with both educators and students unlocking learning (Argawal, 2013) around school curriculum, spaces, processes and tools, and systems (IDEO LLC., 2012). With a shift of mindset to an “I can” attitude (Edutopia, 2018) we can all be part of change for new ways of being. Sometimes adults view change as bad, but change can also be good.

The Relationship Between Creativity and Fear of Failure

Creativity can be thought of as being found in people with “creative genes” (Kelley & Kelley, 2013); however, all people have creative ability which is more than just thinking –it is doing creative things using your imagination for new findings (O’Brien, 2016). Kelley & Kelley (2013) suggest we need courage to get past the fear of failure and allow a creative boost for our “creative capacity”.
