Dogs teach us many things, the most notable is unconditional love. You know how you feel about your dog but do you know how your dog feels about you?
You know your dog loves you when......
- your furry friend sleeps near enough to you to reach way out with the tip of their paw to touch you
- they leave their fur all over the house to remind you of them; fur tumbleweeds :)
- they stick fur on your clothes before you leave the house so when you are out you don't forget about them
- where you go, they gladly follow - anywhere you go
- if you leave the room for more than a few seconds, they come find you
- if you close the door, they push it open to make sure you are ok, even if you are in the bathroom and the door was closed
- they greet you upon arrival, tail loudly banging on the floor, lovingly waiting for your hug
- they let you hug and kiss them every time you pass by them
- they sit or lay in the way so you can talk to them and pet and hug them more
- if you ignore them, by accident of course, they brush their paw or nose on your arm to remind you they are there for you to pet, hug and kiss them more
- their pure heart loves you unconditionally
- they train you to love them unconditionally
- they love to garden, go for drives or do anything with you
- they love to walk with you and don't wander off
- they lay with you when you are sick
- they comfort you when you are sad
- they get excited when you are excited
- if you act weird or like a fool, they are ok with you being you :)
- their hair has a sparkle to it because their love for you shines through
- they train you to feed them when you snack too so they can share in mealtime with you
- they train you that treats get results (tip: carrots have less calories)
- they train you to brush them often because they love it when you gently touch their fur
- because your phone rings too much, they fix it with their teeth so it doesn't ring anymore so you can get some rest and relax with them (true story - my voice mail said: please leave a message, I can't answer the phone right now because my dog ate my phone! - this was after she carefully removed the phone from the protective case it was in on the counter without damaging the case)
- because you watch too much TV, your fur baby destroys the remote before TV ruins your life so you can spend more time with them (another true story, I don't buy remotes anymore)
- so you are not late for work, they make just enough noise to wake you without scaring you
- when you get home from work they talk to you to tell you how much they missed you today
- they always pay attention to you so you know their love has no end
- the lovingly stare at you from across the room even when you are not eating food
- they sniff you when you wear something new so they know your scent to find you if you get lost.
