Once upon a time, I thought I found happiness in the beaming brightness of a rainbow as I traveled up and down the hills chasing the elusive pot of gold. Now when I see a rainbow it makes me smile happy thoughts and lifts my spirit but deep down I know that happiness is about so much more than the hills and valleys before us.

Everyone is on the search for happiness. But what really is happiness? Happiness is said to be a state of mind, a knowing or feeling of being full of euphoria and being blissful in moments of time. This all sounds so grande but how do we find it, where to do we look for it, how do we grasp onto it?
I do know it is not found on the quest for material things, the emptiness at the end of the road, the search for wealth, the power struggles of the world. So where is it? Happiness is found within your spirit. It rests within you always present, always waiting, always patient. It waits for the child inside you to skip home to yourself to be in a place of tranquility, peace, and contentment.
I have found the wealthiest of happiness is found in nature. And while I am happy that I have had a successful day and accomplished tasks, when I am in need of true happiness, I find myself going out into the natural world where life exists in many wondrous ways that we need only stop and see and feel before us. The natural world is there to open our hearts and share in the love that beacons to our hearts. The tiny rose bud that bursts forth with life as it welcomes you to see and smell its essence in the glory of the sun.
Happiness is in the sharing of the innocence within oneself with others whether human or animal. The horses neigh for me to come hither to pick them fresh green grass full of the richness of nutrients and moisture. But know if you pick one blade of grass, you have to pick them all and you gladly will as you offer it with loving gesture. And never for just one horse as the rest start neighing and scratching the ground with their hooves in a give me some too reaction. Along the way the happiness overflows as the bonding of spirit connects us for all eternity. The act of pulling from the soil the very substance to sustain another, acts also as a filling of compassion that lifts your spirit into even higher levels of happiness. For happiness once found can be taken to greater heights.
That is where happiness grows - when we allow our spirit to share it with others. It then bursts forth with a celebration of color. So think of happiness as a color. Have you ever noticed a rainbow is the color of the Chakras upside down? It starts with God awakening your spirit, sparking the flow of love in your heart, and continues to fill you up with the euphoria of vitality to the root of your very being. All you need do is be open to appreciating the beauty as it flows within you. Let your spirit overflow as your ego falls away in the blissful euphoria.
When we are low on happiness we are void of much color but as we fill our spirits with happiness, the colors go through a range of hues turning brighter and brighter until the colors flicker and glow, iridescent still as it soars high in the Light. Although it seems to fade over time, it really just emits more love into the ether and allows it to share with more people as it floats back up to God for renewal and illumination to come forth again. Meditate in that place and allow the happiness to fill your space. Raise it higher and higher. The flow will carry you through any time or space. Tap into it whenever you are low. It's always found right there inside ready to burst forth with an abundance of love and color.
So when you are down, turn it around and let that rainbow inside burst forth with happiness all around. As the colors of happiness come forth, the lightness of spirit will carry you higher to Spirit that patiently waits for you always. Let it beam forth for all eternity. Stand in the Light and let it shine within you, share it with others and feel it come back to you as the rainbow inside brings forth a shower of abundance of color.
