Today is hiking day, whether physically or mentally. I dreamt about it all night long. It was a great adventure so come join me.
It's summer time and the weather is warm. You are dressed comfortably as you lace up your hiking shoes. The forest is calling with songs and lullabies enticing you to come for a visit in its lush green foliage. It's a day to retreat into nature to smell the natural delights of tree bark, leaves, the fresh morning dew.

It's early morning when the forest awakens from deep slumber. The flower buds are opening, petal by petal, one by one until the flowers stretch open wide and welcome the sun. The birds sing the first song of the morning. The frogs are croaking music out in unison before the sun dries up the puddles. The crickets are jumping with joy. Everyone is happy morning has broken again.
Trees of Life
Your forest is full of all kinds of trees - birch, spruce, fir, juniper, maple, oak, pine, cedar, walnut, elm, aspen, ash, hemlock, hickory, bamboo, eucalyptus, popular, fruit trees, willow, the list goes on. These are the trees of life that each have their own special purpose. They don't just sit there, they absorb history and they absorb the toxins of our air and make it fresh and clean for us to breath in. They heal us inside out. Like the hard working bees dedicated to their job, the trees are forever silent workers. See the leaves and branches wave to you as look up and walk on.
Path of Life
As you walk through the forest, your shoes meet the soft carpet of organic earth below you. The path opens up as you walk, made especially for you. The foliage bends back to allow you to easily walk along. You reach out to the flowers and ever so softly touch the leaves as you pass by. The squirrels scamper to collect their chestnuts. The bees graciously collect pollen to take back to the hive. A white butterfly flutters on by and dances in the sunlight. A hummingbird stops in mid flight to see what a strange flower you are before retreating as quick as it came. You are happy to see the mosquitoes are too happily dancing with each other to notice you pass by.
You walk on and breath in the fresh country air as you are in awe at the height of the trees. You feel like you are in your own rainforest, just you and nature protected in the wonderment and delight. Your lungs are full of anticipation, your heart full of love, your mind soaks up each leaf, each twig, each step, each sunbeam that floats from the sky and parts through the leaves to reach you. Stopping for moments here and there you absorb the beauty and magical delights. The magic of the forest enchants you to walk on.
Healing Tree
And there before you the path opens up to your own special healing tree. A giant old maple tree so incredibly round and tall. As you look up its trunk it reaches into the sky so blue. Its bark worn rough and brown. As you move closer, you see the many paths in its bark, like the lines on your hands. Each tell a story of years gone by. As your fingers move across the bark it becomes one with your hand. No longer hard but strong and wise from all the years it stood the test of time. You feel the multitude of layers that created it. The rings grow wider and wider to stretch out to a great circumference that breaks the layers in pieces that have healed and hold the tree together, upright and strong.
You feel roots in the bottom of your feet tingle and reach out of your soles and your toes grow long reaching down to ground you in the warmth of the earth to stabilize you and keep you strong. At the same time roots in your hands tingle and out your fingers grow up the tree reaching round and round the bark and up to the top as your arms stretch out and you hug into the tree. You are one with the tree. As your head peers about the leaves you feel the tree beating with your heart. One..... two......three.....breathe, and again, over and over. Hear your heart beating in its rhythm, feel the blood moving through your body, you are alive. Feel the magic of life beat through your body with the tree as one.
Flow of Love
The leaves wave to the other trees and the branches bend in the warm soft breeze. As the wind flows over your face the sun comes behind and warms you up. Your hand touches a leaf as a palm to palm. You feel the energy flow, the wisdom of the tree helps you grow, the radiant sun helps you see the aura flow. The tree's freshly released oxygen surrounds you and flows into your lungs filling each capillary and healing as it goes; the invisible healer. Your roots hold tight around the tree as your head leans on the trunk, you close your eyes and enjoy the warm sun, the soft breeze, the fresh oxygen. You gladly and deeply breathe in 1-2-3, hold 1-2-3, breathe out 1-2-3, hold 1-2-3, breathe...filling your lungs like this is the last breath to capacity and much more...and then exhaling just as much. Each exhale leaves you empty and cleaned out as you share your carbon monoxide with the tree. The exchange helps you both as the love flows between.
Dance in the Clouds
You watch the clouds float above and see the shapes the white fluff make to entertain you and dance in your love. As quickly as they form they dissipate and rearrange into more shapes against the pale blue sky that reaches on and on. You stay as long as you want as the tree is happy to cuddle and cradle you as it rocks you to sleep. For calming, love and protection is also part of its healing device.
Remember The Love
When you awake feeling refreshed and new you decide to pull out a book and read for the afternoon, sketch drawings, write poetry and stories and songs about the trees in the forest and life, while barefoot, without any thought of the un-necessities of life. Time passes by so quickly your picnic awaits. All the healing and energy makes you hungry as the canopy of tree love rustles in the breeze. Just then a leaf floats down to press into your book to remind you til next time to remember the love.
Until your next walk in the forest, hug a tree, a plant, a flower and say "thank you". Does it make you feel silly? That's ok, trees have a sense of humor too :) They're too busy hugging you back and smiling to care about anything but healing you :)
