Valentine Love

31/1/2017

Valentine. With this month arrives many questions in moments of need of answers and most often from men questioning their love for their special someone and how deep does it go or should they show it. Should I get them anything? I don't want them to think I love them like that. How much do I spend? What do I get? What if they don't like it?

February, Dear February, how can it be? Another year gone by and there you are right in front of me :)

With February comes Valentine's Day. For the romantics this day is full of love and fun, messages and notes and special efforts of love. Where love abounds all around and excites those in romance to new heights of blissful love, while at the same time others live in dread of this mushy day coming along again while they feel alone and are glad when it passes by.

Questioning Love

With this month arrives many questions in moments of need of answers and most often from men questioning their love for their special someone and how deep does it go or should they show it. Should I get them anything?  I don't want them to think I love them like that. How much do I spend? What do I get? What if they don't like it?

Celebrating Love

Yes! Get something but something special. Try considering maybe your special someone feels the same about you, meaning maybe they aren't sure you're the one either, so relax. Spend as much as you want without going over or under the top or what you can afford. It's really about the thought - that you cared enough to think of them and show it. It doesn't have to cost a fortune. And Valentine's Day also includes married couples. Romance needs to grow and flourish to keep love alive.

While a dozen long stem roses are beautiful, don't underestimate a single red rose with delicate baby's breath and greenery snuggled around it symbolizing "You are my one true love".  Too mushy that it screams too much love? How about a single white rose symbolizing purity?  "Our hearts beat together in the purity of love". Or how about a spring bouquet bursting with fresh color, and yes, you can pick fresh flowers outside.

Have a chocolate lover? No, not just any box of chocolates, the kind that have a pretty heart shaped box and a frilly bow on the front. Does the favorite snack not come in a pretty box with a bow?  Be creative and show that you took the extra steps to care and go get a fancy ribbon and make a bow. If you ask the salesperson they will likely help you wrap it up.

Think about what your special someone likes to do, to wear, maybe a favorite scent? If the weather is nice outside, a walk hand and hand with love in your hearts. Tired of all the hustle and bustle trying to get a good seat at a restaurant? How about a nice cozy evening at home just the two of you with supper and waltzing to soft music with the lights turned low. How about pampering your sweetheart with their favorite breakfast in bed.

But don't let it stop there, don't just pamper your sweetheart one day of the year, let love flow all year long and show it in simple ways. Love isn't how much money you have or spend, it's how much love you have and give to your sweetheart. So something special can be a long hug and a whisper of love in the ear!

Love Is For Everyone

And what do you do if you don't have a valentine to spend the day with, to take you to supper or even a cup of tea, to call you, to send you a card?  Who says your valentine has to be a romantic valentine? Look around you. My favorite valentine has always had four legs and a tail. No one will ever love you so unconditionally like your dog and be so grateful for your presence in their life. Don't have a dog? Know a friend that has one or a pet that you can visit or even a shelter? How about taking your dog to visit a senior? Pets love to be loved and love is meant to be shared, it's not about the getting but about the giving. What about your child, parent, Grandparent, Great Grandparent, or someone as special as that to send or bring flowers, a card, or call them, or just visit with them, they like that. My Mom and I used to give each other a gift on Valentine's Day and I so miss her and her unconditional love. As I write this I remember the most beautiful blue hydrangea plant bursting with blooms of white and blue color symbolizing enduring grace and beauty or on another Valentine's Day a beautiful pink azalea flowering shrub symbolizing a message to always take loving care.

Sharing Love

I have never seen someone who didn't like being recognized on Valentine's Day but I've seen many upset that their special someone couldn't even be bothered to call. And yes, I said call, not text, and yes, a visit is even better with a hug, a nice big warm hug that says you're so special to me not just today but all year long.

Love is meant to be shared openly and honestly, not waiting for the day to pass. Enjoy it by doing the very things that you enjoy doing, whether with your love, someone special or a special pet. Don't make it a day of pressure and stress, relax and be grateful for all of the blessings you have in life.

Happy Valentine's month :) Wishing you much love and hugs in your life, not just for this day but for your whole life :)  Stop to smell the flowers and appreciate all the love in your life :)
