The Call of the Ocean

ocean poetry
The call of the ocean
The roar on the shore
Won’t you come listen with me
As the waves crash upon the shore
It makes me yearn for more
Like thunder in the distance it calls out to me
Oh how the sea beckons to me
God has given this gift to all who want to hear
The sea birds fly above while seals in the waves frolic and play
Bobbing and peeking along the shore as they watch from afar
As I walk along the shore I feel the closeness of them in the sea
All day the waves roll over the ocean floor
They call as I watch from the shore
The rising of the sea breathing in and out
The wake of the waves rush like fingers gripping the sand
First it comes to me, then rushes away
The clouds in the distance change shape
From bunnies to dragons, I see their mystical charm
As I lay on the sand the roar calms and puts me to sleep
The clean salt air surrounds and washes my soul
I awake refreshed and ready to carry my load
Through the days I long to hear the rush on the shore
Leading me on and knowing it is there where I am at home
As I walk in the current it tries to pull me in
I am stronger for I’ve walked in the current before
I stand firm and tall and wait for the current to give way
I walk along the shores looking for the treasurers the sea gives up to me
Some pebbles and sea shells and a carpet of seaweed cushion my way
The call of the ocean carries me on
Refreshed and renewed I am ready to enter the world
Another day I will come back and sit near the ocean’s floor
As I leave this place of peace, I know it will wait for me forever more
God’s peace will come to me when I walk along His shores.
